This is a class designed to get the fundamentals of working with clay under your belt.  It is well suited for beginners or those with beginning level skills. The goal is to introduce you to techniques and develop an understanding of the ceramic making process to help you build the skills and confidence needed to keep creating work.

Dates:

We will be covering:

  • Wedging and prepping clay

  • Coiling

  • Slab building 

  • Intro wheel throwing skills

  • Surface decoration techniques

  • Glazing techniques


 I have 3 wheels in my studio, so we will take turns working on the wheel and on hand-building projects week to week.

Although I will be demonstrating techniques, this class will be student led and follow your own interests and goals. The best part of working with clay is that there are endless possibilities for experimentation.  I am here to support you in making those happen!

Beyond form building skills, I will also demonstrate various surface decoration and glazing techniques you can try too. Each piece will be hand glazed by you, and fired in my kiln to be picked up 4 weeks after the class is over.
